Grüezi.
Salut.
Hello,
can you hear me?
It's Basel calling out my name.
Halfway across the world, I am.
But in my skin I feel the same.

This piece was written as a response to my first week in Basel, Switzerland. I was feeling a melange of emotions– excitement, gratitude... but also frustrated because my hard drive decided to die. But I was determined to make something new. In this new place, i felt excited. Summer air clung to my skin and the city seemed to sparkle with sights and sounds. The result was this piece, which I wrote to give colour to the 'tabula rasa', and to share with you, a little piece of how it has been so far. It's the most tonal piece I have written this year, but still always exploratory in language. I hope you enjoy 'hello, can you hear me' for bass flute and electronics.
